Baked Lemon Parmesan Tilapia: Easy 20-Min Date Night

  • Author: angela_woods
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and elegant baked tilapia dish featuring a crispy parmesan and panko crust with bright lemon flavor, perfect for a stress-free date night or busy weeknight.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs Tilapia Fillets
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan Cheese
  • ½ cup Panko Breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Lemon (zest and juice)
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • Salt and Black Pepper, to taste
  • Lemon Slices, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pat tilapia fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides lightly with salt and black pepper.
  3. In a small bowl, combine grated parmesan, panko breadcrumbs, minced garlic, dried oregano, and lemon zest.
  4. Pour melted butter and olive oil into the breadcrumb mixture and stir until evenly coated.
  5. Place seasoned fillets on the baking sheet and spoon the breadcrumb mixture evenly over each fillet, pressing gently to adhere.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the fish is opaque, flakes easily with a fork, and the topping is golden brown.
  7. While baking, squeeze half a lemon into a small cup. Once out of the oven, drizzle fresh lemon juice over the hot fillets and garnish with parsley or lemon slices.

Notes

Ensure tilapia is patted very dry to help breadcrumbs stick. Do not overcook or the fish will become rubbery. For extra crispiness, broil for the last 1-2 minutes while watching closely. If breadcrumbs brown too fast, cover loosely with foil. Substitute panko with gluten-free breadcrumbs or almond flour for a gluten-free version.
