Description
A creamy, high-protein smoothie made with just three simple ingredients: cottage cheese, banana, and milk. This shake offers a rich texture and sustained energy without the chalky taste of traditional protein powders.
Ingredients
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup small-curd cottage cheese
- 1 ripe banana (frozen for thicker consistency)
- 1 cup milk (dairy, almond, oat, or soy)
- Optional: 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- Optional: 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
- Optional: 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: Pinch of cinnamon
Instructions
- Peel the banana and break it into chunks. Freeze for at least two hours if a thicker, colder shake is desired.
- Pour the milk into the blender jar first to protect the blades and help circulation.
- Add the cottage cheese to the blender.
- Add the banana chunks and any optional sweeteners or flavorings.
- Secure the lid and start the blender on low speed to break up chunks, then ramp up to high speed.
- Blend for 30 to 45 seconds until the mixture is completely smooth with no visible curds.
- Taste and adjust consistency or sweetness if needed, blending for an additional 10 seconds.
- Pour into a tall glass and serve immediately.
Notes
For the best texture, use small-curd cottage cheese and frozen bananas. If using a basic blender, add milk first, then cheese, then banana to ensure smooth blending. Do not freeze this shake for later consumption as dairy-based smoothies can become grainy when thawed. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours and stir well before drinking.
