Creamy Strawberry Protein Ice Cream: 5-Ingredient High Protein Dessert

  • Author: angela_woods
  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Description

A quick, high-protein dessert made with frozen strawberries, vanilla protein powder, and milk. This creamy, soft-serve style ice cream requires no ice cream maker and is perfect for post-workout recovery or a healthy late-night treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups frozen strawberries
  • 1 scoop (30g) vanilla protein powder (whey isolate recommended)
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup cold milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt (optional, for creaminess)
  • Sweetener to taste (liquid stevia, monk fruit, honey, or maple syrup, optional)

Instructions

  1. Chop frozen strawberries in half if they are large to ensure even blending.
  2. Place strawberries in a high-speed blender or food processor.
  3. Add the vanilla protein powder and Greek yogurt (if using) to the blender.
  4. Pour in 1/4 cup of cold milk. Start with less liquid to maintain a thick consistency.
  5. Pulse on low speed to break up the fruit, then blend on high for 30-60 seconds, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed.
  6. Blend until the mixture reaches a thick, soft-serve consistency similar to whipped cream.
  7. Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness or thickness by adding more sweetener or milk if necessary.
  8. Serve immediately as soft-serve, or transfer to an airtight container and freeze for 30-60 minutes for a firmer texture.

Notes

Ensure strawberries are fully frozen; thawed fruit will result in a smoothie. Use cold milk to prevent the mixture from warming up during blending. Do not over-blend, as friction can melt the ice cream. For dairy-free versions, use coconut yogurt and almond/oat milk. The ice cream can be stored in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.
