Easy Apple Crescent Rolls: Best Sweet Breakfast

  • Author: angela_woods
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

Flaky, buttery crescent rolls filled with sautéed spiced apples and drizzled with a sweet glaze. This quick and easy breakfast treat is perfect for busy mornings or weekend brunches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1–2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 3–4 medium apples (mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar, sifted
  • 1–2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a standard 13×9 inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Peel, core, and dice the apples into small, bite-sized pieces.
  4. Melt butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  5. Sauté the apple mixture for 5-7 minutes until tender but not mushy. Stir occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Let cool slightly.
  6. Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean surface and separate the triangles along the perforations.
  7. Place a spoonful of the apple mixture near the wide end of each triangle.
  8. Roll the dough up tightly from the wide end towards the point. Pinch the seam at the end to seal.
  9. Place rolls seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each roll.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and puffy.
  11. While rolls bake, whisk together confectioners’ sugar and milk until smooth to make the glaze.
  12. Remove rolls from oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes. Drizzle with glaze and serve warm.

Notes

Sautéing the apples first prevents the dough from getting soggy and concentrates the flavor. Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for best flavor balance. If glazing while hot, the sugar may melt too much; let rolls cool slightly first. For gluten-free option, use gluten-free crescent dough. For dairy-free, use plant-based butter and milk.
