Description
A quick and flavorful side dish featuring caramelized corn kernels tossed in a sweet and savory honey butter glaze with smoky spices, ready in under 15 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 bag (16 oz) frozen corn kernels
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
- 1 lime, juiced (optional)
Instructions
- Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and let it warm for about 2 minutes.
- Add the butter to the hot skillet and swirl until fully melted and foaming slightly.
- Pour in the frozen corn kernels and spread them out in an even layer to maximize surface contact.
- Let the corn sit undisturbed for 3-4 minutes to develop golden-brown spots.
- Stir the corn to distribute heat, then sprinkle in garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat.
- Drizzle the honey over the corn and stir continuously for 2-3 minutes until the honey bubbles and creates a glossy glaze.
- Remove from heat. Taste and adjust seasoning. Stir in cilantro and lime juice if using.
- Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
Notes
Do not crowd the pan; cook in batches if making a large amount to ensure proper searing. Honey burns easily, so keep heat at medium-high and stir constantly when adding honey. For a spicy kick, add a pinch of cayenne or diced jalapeño. For a cheesy version, stir in cotija or feta cheese at the end.
