Pineapple Cucumber Agua Fresca: Easy Tropical Refresher

  • Author: angela_woods
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A bright, crystalline tropical drink made from fresh pineapple, crisp cucumber, lime juice, and a touch of agave. This simple, hydrating beverage is perfect for beating the heat and offers a silky smooth texture when strained.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large ripe pineapple, peeled, cored, and cut into chunks
  • 1 large English cucumber, washed and chopped
  • Juice of 1 fresh lime
  • 2–3 tablespoons agave nectar (or sugar)
  • 4–5 cups cold filtered water
  • Ice cubes for serving

Instructions

  1. Peel the pineapple, remove the hard core, and cut the flesh into chunks. Discard the core for the smoothest texture.
  2. Wash the cucumber thoroughly. Cut it in half lengthwise and scoop out large seeds if necessary. Chop into rough chunks; no need to peel English cucumbers.
  3. Add pineapple chunks, cucumber pieces, lime juice, agave nectar, and 4 cups of cold water to a blender.
  4. Blend on high speed for about 60 seconds until the mixture is completely smooth and frothy.
  5. Place a fine-mesh strainer over a large bowl or pitcher. Pour the blended mixture through the strainer.
  6. Use a spoon or spatula to press down on the pulp to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the dry pulp.
  7. Taste the liquid and adjust sweetness with more agave or tartness with more lime juice if needed. Stir well.
  8. Pour into a pitcher and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld.
  9. Fill serving glasses with ice. Pour the chilled agua fresca over the ice.
  10. Garnish with a thin slice of cucumber or a sprig of mint. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use chilled ingredients to keep the drink cold without dilution. If using canned pineapple, choose chunks packed in 100% juice, not syrup. The drink is best consumed within 24 hours. You can add jalapeño for heat, mint for freshness, or swap half the water for coconut water for electrolytes.
