Soft Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread Bake

Description

A warm, sticky, and soft holiday treat made with store-bought biscuit dough, coated in butter and cinnamon, and finished with a sweet vanilla glaze. It combines the flavors of cinnamon rolls with the pull-apart texture of monkey bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (flaky variety)
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 10-inch bundt pan or 9×5 inch loaf pan generously with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Open the biscuit dough and separate biscuits into quarters (or halves if large). Place pieces in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Pour the melted butter over the biscuit pieces and toss to coat evenly.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the buttered dough and toss again until every piece is covered.
  5. Transfer the coated biscuit pieces into the prepared pan, pressing them down gently to fit snugly. If using pecans, sprinkle them over the top and press in slightly.
  6. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly. Check with a toothpick inserted into the center; it should come out clean.
  7. While the bread bakes, make the glaze: In a small saucepan, combine granulated sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it reaches a gentle boil. Simmer for 2 minutes, then remove from heat.
  8. Let the bread cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Invert onto a serving plate.
  9. Pour the warm glaze over the hot bread immediately. Serve warm.

Notes

For best results, use fresh cinnamon and check the expiration date on the biscuit dough. If making ahead, assemble the night before and refrigerate; add 5-10 minutes to baking time. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days or freeze individual pieces for up to three months.
