Description
A quick, 20-minute stovetop recipe for tender, juicy chicken breasts coated in a rich, savory garlic butter sauce using only five simple ingredients.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Pat chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until it shimmers.
- Sear chicken breasts in the pan for 5-6 minutes without moving them to develop a golden-brown crust, then flip.
- Reduce heat to medium-low, add butter, and once melted, add minced garlic. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Baste the chicken with the garlic butter sauce and continue cooking for 5-7 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Pour in chicken broth, scraping up browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Simmer for 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
- Remove chicken from pan and let rest for 5 minutes. Stir chopped parsley into the sauce and spoon over chicken before serving.
Notes
Ensure chicken breasts are pounded to an even ½-inch thickness for uniform cooking. Do not cook on high heat to prevent burning the garlic. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes to retain juices. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
